Dear Deer is a french band formed in 2015, consisting of Federico Iovino (Popoï Sdioh) and Sabatel (Cheshire Cat).
This duo mixing Post-Punk and Noise also deals with some No-wave and Disco influences.
After a self-released demo, quickly appears the first album “Oh my…” in 2016 (vinyl+CD Manic Depression/Swiss Dark night).
”Claudine in Berlin” from this very album is also available as a videoclip on Youtube .
In the meantime, they performed all around Europe (France, Belgium, Switzerland,Italy, Portugal, Netherlands, Germany, Poland...) with such bands as The KVB, Kas Product, Perturbator, Savage Republic, Guerre Froide, Boy Harsher, Le Prince Harry, Motorama…etc
They also performed in festivals celebrating underground music such as “Return to the Batcave”, “Wave fest”, “Minicave Festival”, “Waveteef Festival”,”Entremuralhas”.
supported by 11 fans who also own “Chew-chew (2018)”
Very tight debut album that follows the core concepts of alienation and urban atmosphere like the fantastic EP 'Endless Party' without losing variety in the 10 songs.
In my opinion are the drums a bit under the overall mix and the last track doesn't have that much of an impact to me.
Least but not least for 20 bucks +shipping the CD-Digipack is a bit underwhelming, could have been more illustrations and linernotes. (the coverart and strong colours are still awesome).
I can say it's one of my favourite post-punk/gothic albums and I am looking engaged to further projects and hope you guys grow with every new song/album/EP. nyq
